Driving Change: LTO Region 6 Clears the Road to Better Service
At the helm of this effort is LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza, who has been steadfast in his vision for a more efficient and transparent LTO. Supported by Regional Director Attorney Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu, the leadership team has prioritized addressing this backlog as a key step toward improving public trust and satisfaction.
In a decisive move to enhance its public service delivery, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6 is tackling a challenge that has long frustrated motorists—unclaimed driver’s licenses. The initiative, part of the agency’s strategic calendar of activities for the year, aims to clear the backlog and ensure that every eligible driver receives their license without unnecessary delays.

A Vision of Efficiency and Transparency
“This initiative reflects our commitment to efficiency and transparency,” emphasized Assistant Secretary Mendoza. “By addressing the backlog, we are not only streamlining our processes but also ensuring that every eligible driver receives the proper documentation in a timely manner.”
For motorists in Iloilo City, this means new opportunities to claim their licenses. The Iloilo City Licensing Center has announced extended operational hours on four Saturdays—March 22, March 29, April 12, and April 26, 2025. During these dates, the center will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon to accommodate more claimants.

A Collaborative Effort for Road Safety
Local authorities and road safety advocates have expressed strong support for the initiative. They highlight the critical role that timely issuance of licenses plays in promoting road safety. “Every driver’s license issued is a step toward a more secure and orderly road environment,” remarked Regional Director Geduspan.
The extended hours are expected to provide significant relief to motorists, particularly those who have been waiting months to receive their licenses. This proactive approach not only addresses immediate concerns but also sets a standard for efficiency that other regional offices may follow.

Bridging the Gap Between Service and Public Need
For many drivers, a license is more than just a card—it’s a symbol of mobility, independence, and legal responsibility. The LTO Region 6 understands this, which is why the agency is urging all eligible drivers to take advantage of the extended hours to resolve their pending licensing issues.
With this initiative, LTO Region 6 is not just clearing a backlog; it’s paving the way for a more responsive and accessible agency. This effort sends a clear message: public service is about meeting the needs of the people with urgency and accountability.
As the region moves closer to achieving its goal of a zero-balance in unclaimed licenses, the leadership at LTO Region 6 continues to reinforce its pledge to deliver prompt, reliable, and high-quality services to the public. Through initiatives like this, the agency is proving that meaningful change is possible with the right vision and dedication.
