Clearing the Pending Plates: LTO Region 6 Tackles Motorcycle Plate Distribution
The streets of Western Visayas are abuzz with anticipation as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6 takes decisive action to resolve a lingering issue that has plagued motorcycle owners for years— pending plate releases.
Under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan and Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu, the agency has launched a comprehensive initiative to address backlogs dating as far back as 2014.

In an interview on Daily Guardian on Air, hosted by Daily Guardian Editor-in-Chief Francis Allan Angelo, Director Geduspan shared that the Central Office has given the green light to reallocate unassigned motorcycle plates to address the pending motorcycle plates.
“We are giving leeway to private motorcycle owners. They can visit our office to inquire and request plate assignments if they don’t have plates yet,” Director Geduspan explained.
This initiative is part of a nationwide directive by LTO Chief Asec. Vigor D. Mendoza II and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon to eliminate delays and ensure registered motorcycles are equipped with plates.

A National Priority
The effort has received strong backing from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., whose support has been pivotal in resolving the issue. Asec. Mendoza emphasized that the backlog problem has persisted for nearly a decade, but the agency is now closer than ever to a solution.
Beyond Distribution: A Tool for Safety
For Director Geduspan, the impact of distributing plates extends beyond compliance. It also serves as a tool for crime prevention. The proper registration of motorcycles can help authorities identify suspects in crimes, such as those committed by “riding-in-tandem” perpetrators.
Director Geduspan urged motorcycle owners to follow up with their dealers or visit the LTO Region 6 office to ensure their vehicles are properly documented.

Streamlining Processes
The distribution effort is bolstered by a ₱1 billion allocation for the procurement of new laser engravers to address frequent malfunctions in license card production.
Director Geduspan assured the public that plate supply sufficiency is no longer an issue and that regional offices are well-prepared to manage the initiative.

How to Claim Plates
Motorcycle owners in Region 6 with initial registrations from 2014 to 2017 are encouraged to claim their plates by bringing photocopies of their Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR). Authorized representatives must also present an authorization letter.
For inquiries, the LTO-6 New Registration Unit can be reached at 0912-939-3703.
A Step Toward Progress
With full implementation targeted by June, LTO Region 6 is determined to ensure all registered motorcycles have their plates.
“This effort underscores our commitment to improving road safety and delivering efficient public service in the region,” Director Geduspan emphasized.
For many motorcycle owners, this initiative marks the end of a years-long wait and the beginning of a more organized and safer system.
