Driving Towards Safety: LTO Region 6 Empowers Alimodian Residents Through Free Theoretical Driving Course

In a commendable effort to prioritize road safety and responsible driving, the Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) recently conducted a free 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) for 102 residents of Alimodian, Iloilo.

Held on March 6-7 at the Alimodian Municipal Hall’s Session Hall, the initiative was made possible through the request of Second District Representative Cong. Mike Gorriceta.

The program saw enthusiastic participants, who were all eager to gain the essential knowledge required to navigate the roads safely. Moreover, the course fulfilled a key requirement for acquiring a new driver’s license, making the process more accessible to the community.

The TDC is an integral part of LTO’s commitment to equipping aspiring motorists with comprehensive insights into traffic laws, road safety practices, and responsible driving habits. It reflects the agency’s vision of creating safer roads for all by empowering individuals with education and awareness.

The course was expertly led by Ms. Mel Joy Gaurano of LTO-6’s Traffic Safety Unit and facilitated by seasoned educators Ryan John A. Apalacio and Bernard C. Bacay. Backed by the LTO Iloilo City Driver’s Education Center, the sessions were structured to ensure participants received high-quality and impactful training.

“This program is a vital step in making driver education accessible to everyone, particularly in communities where road safety knowledge can make a significant difference,” said LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II.

His sentiments were echoed by Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu, who emphasized that initiatives like these play a key role in fostering a culture of discipline and responsibility on the roads.

For many participants, the training was an eye-opener, providing them with critical insights into road etiquette, accident prevention techniques, and the importance of adhering to traffic laws. They expressed heartfelt gratitude for the free program, which not only made the licensing process more attainable but also instilled confidence in their ability to become responsible drivers.

Buoyed by the positive reception, LTO-6 is now looking to expand similar programs across Western Visayas, underscoring its dedication to making driver education inclusive and impactful.

Through initiatives like the TDC, LTO-6 continues to lead the charge in advocating road safety and responsible driving. By empowering communities with knowledge, the agency is paving the way for safer roads and a brighter future for motorists across the region.

As LTO-6 stays steadfast in its mission, the community can look forward to more innovative and accessible approaches to driver education, ensuring that every journey begins with safety and responsibility.
