LTO Region 6 Ramps Up Night Operations for ‘Semana Santa’ Travel Surge
By GEROME DALIPE
As the sun sets and the streets of Western Visayas come alive with the buzz of travelers, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6 remains hard at work.
Under the banner of “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa and Summer Vacation 2025,” enforcement teams have taken their commitment to road safety into the night, ensuring that travelers can journey with peace of mind during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.

From 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the dedicated teams led by Ms. Relin B. Reyes, Chief of the Regional Law Enforcement Section, conduct roadside inspections, enforce land transportation laws, and spreads awareness about road safety.
This tireless effort is part of LTO’s nationwide campaign running from April 11 to April 20, designed to address the challenges of increased travel during Semana Santa and the summer vacation period.
“We want families to travel safely and confidently,” say the enforcement teams, echoing the sentiment of LTO Region 6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu. Their initiative goes beyond enforcement; it’s a public service effort aimed at creating safer roads for everyone.

Key components of the campaign include the deployment of additional traffic personnel at transport hubs, seaports, and airports, as well as thorough roadworthiness checks for public utility vehicles, particularly long-distance buses. These measures are crucial as families, vacationers, and pilgrims take to the roads in droves during the Holy Week.
Aligned with the directives of LTO Chief Asec. Vigor D. Mendoza II and Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, the night operations reflect a proactive approach to managing travel surges and minimizing road accidents.
The enforcement teams are not just about strict implementation of the law—they also serve as a reassuring presence for weary drivers and travelers. By prioritizing both safety and public service, LTO Region 6 demonstrates its unwavering commitment to making every journey smooth and secure.
In the quiet hours of the night, while the world rests, the LTO Region 6 ensures that the roads remain safe for all, embodying the spirit of dedication and public service that resonates throughout the season.
