Revitalizing Motor Registration: A Bold New Chapter in Public Service

In a decisive move to modernize vehicle registration and boost road safety, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II has set the stage for a transformative initiative—releasing 11.8 million motor plates in the next four to five months. Speaking at the Administrative Forum held at the Paradise Garden Resort and Convention Center in Kalibo, Aklan, Secretary Mendoza painted a vivid picture of the immense challenge ahead as LTO personnel prepare to address a backlog dating back to 2014.
“This is not a simple task. It will increase motor vehicle registration. We will have to finish this work,” he declared, underscoring the agency’s unwavering commitment to resolving an issue that has lingered for over a decade. The plan to distribute these motor plates is not just about numbers—it represents a critical leap toward streamlining operations and ensuring that every vehicle on Philippine roads is properly registered and identifiable.

LTO Region 6 has emerged as a trailblazer in this transformative effort. Under the visionary leadership of Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu, the region has not only achieved operational readiness but also hosted a pivotal three-day fellowship dinner from March 23 to 26. This gathering brought together administrative officers and support personnel from various LTO regional offices, providing a dynamic forum to address administrative challenges and share innovative ideas aimed at refining LTO processes.
Aligned with the modernization initiatives spearheaded by Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, the forum emphasized continuous improvement and collaboration. Conversations spanned from devising strategies to manage the unprecedented influx of motor plates to refining policies that promise a more efficient, transparent, and responsive transportation system. This collective effort marked another significant milestone in LTO’s relentless pursuit of enhanced public service delivery.
As LTO personnel brace for the monumental task ahead, their commitment to resolving long-standing issues and promoting road safety shines through. With leaders like Atty. Mendoza, Atty. Geduspan, and Assistant Regional Director Conlu at the helm, the LTO is poised to transform the landscape of vehicle registration in the country—ensuring that every motorist’s right to safe, accessible, and well-regulated transportation is not only upheld but celebrated.
